Description

Confined spaces can be hazardous to those who work inside and nearby. This eLearning course provides basic education on what confined spaces are, how to identify them, and ways to control the hazards they pose.  

Learners will have two attempts to complete the final test and must achieve a score of at least 80%.

NOTE: This course is awareness only. Those who enter confined spaces as part of work should register for IHSA's in-class training course Confined Space Entry.

Objectives

  1. Define the term “confined space”
  2. Recognize confined spaces in construction.
  3. Name the five main elements of an on-site confined space program.
  4. Explain the procedure for assessing hazards.
  5. Specify the acceptable range of oxygen in confined spaces and give the legislated reference.
  6. List the 11 legislated requirements for a confined space plan.
  7. Explain the requirements of on-site rescue for confined space entry.
  8. Explain the duties of workers working in confined spaces.
  9. Recognize the required components of an entry permit.
